Most people start a new fitness plan the same way: all in. Six sessions a week, a strict diet, no treats. It lasts about three weeks.
The problem is not effort. It is that the plan depends on motivation, and motivation does not show up every day. Work gets busy, the kids get sick, you sleep badly. The all-or-nothing plan becomes nothing.
The maths of small wins
Get 1% better each day for a year and the numbers compound: 1.01 multiplied by itself 365 times comes to about 37.8. That is nearly 38 times better than where you started.
Nobody improves at a perfectly steady rate, of course. But the principle holds. Small improvements, repeated consistently, add up to far more than the occasional heroic week.
What 1% looks like in practice
1% is deliberately small. It might be:
- One extra set, or two more kilos on a lift you have mastered
- A ten-minute walk after dinner
- An extra serve of vegetables at lunch
- Going to bed fifteen minutes earlier
None of these will change your life on their own. Stacked up for months, they absolutely will.
Make it easy to keep going
The trick is to make your improvements small enough that you can keep making them on your worst week, not just your best one. That is why every True Fit program is built around your actual schedule, and why we track habits alongside training.
